depends if you get council tax benefit or not.....

If you are unemployed you don't pay tax.
If you are retired or have savings you may have to pay tax on the income from pensions or savings

if u r on benefits u dont have to pay tax, if u have an income then u would have to pay tax on it in the same was as if it was earned income, ie after the personal allowance u would have to pay tax at the normal rate.

You can receive £5435 per annum before you are liable to tax. Once over that you will pay tax at 20%.
Bear in mind interest received and pensions also count towards your taxable income.

Do you mean you are renting out your house to someone? You pay tax on the profit from the letting. JSA is also taxable, so the amount really depends on the amount of your JSA and the amount of your profit.

VAT (value added tax), on everything you buy.

The best place to go for advice is your local citizens advice bureau. They are usully friendly and will talk to you about your options. If you are unemployed - depending on your circumstances, you may be entitled to job seekers, If you claim job seekers they will apply for a concil tax reduction for you. And possibly some housing benefit.

Unfortunately a lot of the decision depends on whether you are actually looking for work, and whether (even with benefits) you will be able to afford to live in a rented property or not.

Good luck.
