If you were a nomad, and travelled around the USA in your car, would you have to pay taxes?
of course you'd have to pay sales tax and such, but would the IRS be after you for state and federal taxes?

If you work, it doesn't matter where you are living- you have to pay income tax.

Sure. The IRS won't pursue you for State taxes, but the last state that you were domiciled in most certainly would.

If you have no income, you don't pay income taxes. If you don't own property, you don't pay property taxes.

spicertax
If you have income the IRS expects a Federal return. If you earned income from working in 30 states guess what? You get to file 30 state returns.

How are you goingto support yourself on this journey? If you get a job, you have to pay taxes.
If you rob banks, the rest of us get to support you in prison.

Not if you were paid under the table..you would be non existant to the IRS.

The IRS only concerns itself with Federal income taxes, states have their own collection entities. It depends on what you have for income for the year. If all your money is invested in something like tax free Municiple bonds and you are just living off the intrest (like John Kerry and Momma T Heinz), probably not.

INTERESTING thought!

Some questions I'd have would be
(a) WHICH state? and
(b) HOW would they track you down?

LOL... it's actually quite easy to "disappear" off the IRS radar, if you do it right. ;)
