LadyMoonlight!! | If your gross monthly pay is £1107? |
Is it right to be paying £200 in Tax and National Insurance?
On a 525L tax code? Additional Details It shocked me when I saw my other half's payslip and saw what they had taken from him! We're not high earners and that £200 is a massive chunk of our income! We end up getting it back in Tax Credits every month, which makes me wonder why they don't just leave his payslip alone in the first place! they tax his money and then we have to claim it back! |

£200 might not be bad for you, compared to the tax you pay, but for someone like me that £200 tax a month is the difference being in poverty and not. That extra £400 a month myself and my partner could bring in, is the difference between living in a decent area and not! If we could save up that much every month, we could buy our own house! Sadly it's a pipe dream for some of us lol
My aunt also pays around what you pay a month and she has a nice house, car, lifestyle. we don't. So if your on the lower end of paying tax, your salary is not high. Therefore we don't have the same benefits for our lives as you!
if you only want to pay £200 a month then please do come down to East London and swap with me. You make it sound like your life is so hard paying so much tax lol
I used to Live on Battersea Rise in Clapham but the rich folk moved in and put prices up so high, after 25 years living there I was forced to move.
As to the questioner, as other have said, yet it is right. Im on about the same amount as well! :) And I can't even put anything towards my pension etc. Ahh well :) |

I reckon you should be paying £134/month in Tax and about £56 in National Insurance, so yeah, its about right ... sorry, welcome to the real world!
If you multiply your monthly gross by 12, and deduct your tax code ( £5250), and whack off 20%, then divide that by twelve again, shows what your Tax is monthly |
|

Gross income: £13,284
Less allowance: £5250
Taxable Pay: £8,034
Lower rate: £2230 @ 10% -> £223.00 tax
Standard :£5804 @ 22% --> £1276.88 tax
NI @ 11% = £1461.24
Total tax and NI = £2961.12 which comes out at £246.76 per month.
This assume you have been paid £1107 per month since April 2007. |

wow, I make about 1000 us dollars more and government pulls $80.00 from me, that is crazy to be paying. |

How can your partner be working 60 hours a week and get £1107 as a gross salary,cos if he's on the minimum wage then your gross should be more-about £1400?
But for £1107,£200 sounds about right.
Imagine what I pay.My hourly rate works out as less than half the minimum wage an hour(it's legal) AND I have to pay the highest NI possible.
For that amount your husband's hours work out at about 45 hours per week which is normal(well if your that lucky) |

yup,my tax bill each month is normally over £1,000 so 200 not to bad |
