Im 18 next month, will I get the 300 tax rebate?
I've been working since I was 16, and paid taxes since I was 16. I am still living with parents and depend on them. Will I receive the rebate?

If your parents claim you as a dependent, you will be ineligible for the rebate, but you may still benefit under the plan.

While the rebate depends on your 2007 status and income, it is actually a rebate toward your 2008 taxes. According to the proposed plan, in 2008, taxes would be cut from 10 percent to zero percent on the first $6,000 dollars of taxable income for individual taxpayers.

So if you have taxable income in 2008, you will see a tax cut when you file in 2009 if you don't get the rebate now.

If you are a dependent then you will not receive the tax rebate.

You are a dependent of your parents if you live with them and you did not provide over half of your own support.

No, dependents aren't eligible.

If you are claimed as a dependent on your parents' tax return you will NOT receive a rebate. Since you are age 17 or older, your parents will not receive the $300 dependency rebate either.

chbac
You have to make $3000 in 2007 and must not be reported as a dependent by someone and file your 2007 tax return.

terlynn_1370
Probably not because I'm guessing your parents can still claim you as a dependent (whether they do or not may be a moot point), but here is a site has answers to many questions. By reading thorugh it you can apply your personal situation and get the answer much better than asking those here.

Did you file separate from your parents and earned at least $3000? If so, it is my understanding that you should, but I may be wrong.

I believe I heard that it relates to taxes for 2006 - so
if you were 18 on Dec 31, 2006, yep

but nope
