Many, but not all, taxpayers qualify for the maximum basic payment of $600 for singles or $1,200 for married couples. Many parents are also receiving an additional $300 for each qualifying child, born after Dec. 31, 1990.
Your payment may be less than the maximum for one or more of the following reasons:
You are single and your net income tax liability is less than $600. If you file Form 1040 net income tax liability is the amount shown on Line 57, plus the amount on Line 52.
You are married and your net income tax liability is less than $1,200.
You are single and your adjusted gross income (AGI) is more than $75,000. On Form 1040, AGI is the amount on Line 37.
You are married filing a joint return and your AGI is more than $150,000.
You owe back taxes.
You have non-tax federal debts such as unpaid student loans or child-support obligations.
Around the same time you receive your payment, you will receive a notice from the IRS explaining how your payment was figured. It is important to keep this notice as a record of your economic stimulus payment. In addition, you’ll get a separate notice if you owe back taxes or non-tax debts. |

How much tax did you pay? If you made under around $18,000 you wouldn't have owed tax, or would have owed under $300, so your amount for you would be $300, plus $300 for the child. $600 is the MAXIMUM - you only get that much for yourself if you paid that much in tax. Probably over half the people who are eligible are eligible for $300, not the maximum $600. |

I sure hope so. Thats my situation (and I have a job). I'm a single mom who made more than the lowest amount and less than the highest amount, head of household with one child, so I'm expecting $900.... hopefully any time |

You get between $300 and $600 for yourself. The exact amount is based on your tax liability on your 2007 1040 form you filed. If your tax liability was less than $300, you and your spouse (if you're married and filed jointly) will each receive $300. If it was between $300 and $600, you'll receive that amount. If it was more than $600, you'll each get $600. You'll receive $300 for each qualifying child. |

the amount that was original stated by news press was inaccurate. The amount u receive will be determinate by the amount you paid in taxes throughout the 2007 year.
When did you receive your $, 2day? |

It goes by a percentage of your tax liability. If you didn't owe taxes on your income tax return, your rebate will only be the minimum - $300 - plus $300 for each qualifying (under 17) child. |

Yes, you only get the $600 if you are married and filed joint.
Added this to my answer....
Why are people so rude? How is this question making her out to be using her kids? She is probably like every other SINGLE mother out there struggling and was depending on some extra cash to help pay some bills. Just answer the question and leave the condescending humor out of it. |
