No, sorry, a gift to a person is not tax deductable.

But you do get the good feeling of helping a friend out.

Gifts must be made to a qualified charity to be deductible.

And you can't donate to a charity with the understanding that they'll give it your friend....doing so would invalidate the charity donation.

There is no deduction available, as gifts are neither taxable to the recipient nor deductible by the giver.

Note that this is a different circumstance than making a charitable contribution, which is deductible. In this case, you are giving the car to your friend, not to a qualified charity.

No, there's no tax deduction you can get for it, but I'm sure your friend will appreciate it.

You can only write off a deduction to a listed, approved charity. Unless your friend can be considered a charity by state law, the answer is no.

You could probably claim the depreciation back until you gifted it away but that's all I would guess.

Yes, the Salvation Army has a program thats similiar. You can call and get some tips from them on what paperwork is needed.
