I would advise you to see the Citizens' Advice Bureau, they will help you to maximise your income and make sure you are getting everything you are entitled to.

My first thought is try applying for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit. You can get a form from your local council (just give them a call). You may not be entitled but it costs nothing to apply so give it a go.

Your husband may qualify for Working Tax Credit. Try the HMRC website.

you could contact tax credit office and housing benefits to see wot you may be entitled to or look at gov.uk benefits section for possible advice.maybe their is a benefits advice centre you could go to for advice near to where you live i know there is one in my town

hi,
i dont think you will be entitled to anything else as i do not think that you are on a low enough income for counciltax benefit or housing benefit (that is presuming the figure given was after deductions).
check out
www.entitledto.co.uk
as that is a website in which you fill in a form and it tells you what you are intitled to and who to contact.

other than that you could either consider getting a part time job if possible - just 1-2 days a week or maybe selling your baby clothes on ebay as he/she outgrows them.

also either getting a loan to consolidate all debts into one smaller payment and then cut up any cards or if you owe more than £3000 you can get in touch with the citizens advice bureau and they contact all your debtors and ask them to lower your monthly payments and (i think) also stop adding interest.

and i do not think you are greedy. your partner works and pays his taxes, and seeing as though you were on maternity allowance then you must have been working in the recent past so why shouldnt you claim what you can back.

Go to the council, they should help pay your rent, either all or part of it (Housing Benefit). Also they should help you with your council tax.
Go to the council and ask them to help you fill it out and then it will get processed alot quicker.

Hope this helped

Have you applied for Working tax credits??....give tax office a ring and ask them to assess you on the current years estimate as opposed to the year ended april 07 income.....which would have been higher because of your wage then. Reason being is that the lower the income the higher the eligibilty

Contact your local authority and request a claim for housing benefit for your rent and the council tax benefit.....you may be entitled to a little help no harm in trying

Contact your local CAB who can help you with your debts and realistic budgeting and they will also provide a benefit calculation and make sure you are receiving everything you are entitled to

I'm not sure myself. But I can suggest trying to get the correct information from the appropriate sources... like perhaps the citizens bureau?
