Im working 12 hours at work and need to know if i can family tax credit, as i cant change my hours! help!!!

well it has got to be 16 hrs. Unless you live with your partner who works over 16 hours then you will be able to receive it.

blondz
if you have children you can claim for the child tax credit, but you have to be working over 16hrs to claim working tax credit(with child on claim) 30hrs if you have no children. sorry, call them they will do eligibility calc with u 0800 300 3900 x x

Chris
I get W.T.C. but there is a 30 or 34 hour factor. If you only work 12 hours, you will still get benefits. One deletes the other one out. The best option is go to work & do loads of hours and pay your way. There is no reason why you can't work at least 3 Days. All of my friends are Nursery nurses & have kids but still go to work. BTW they don't all work at schools

kezz
16 hours or more sorry.

Laura
In answer to your question, No you wouldn't qualify for working tax, but if you have children, you'd get child tax credit.

If you have children you get child tax credit regardless if you work or not.

Working tax works differently - if single, you need to work at least 30hrs and be aged 25 and over with income under 11,550
if a couple, one needs to be 25 and over, working 30hrs or more and household income under 15,500
the only exception (for working tax) is if you are classed as disabled, in which case you only need to be aged 16 and work 16hrs.

I'm sure your tax credit goes on what you earn and not how long it takes you to earn it.

nope gotta be 16 hours a week ( with at least one child ) unless your partner works 16 hours or more then you will get it. If you are on your own with children then u will get full CTC with lone parent so will get the maximum amount possible depending on how many kids u have and childcare etc. although sayin that u cant claim childcare unless you and your partner work 16 hours or more. You wont get WTC unless you have a partner working 16 hours or more and it will then be based on your joint income. but if your joint income over a certain level (dependant on circumstances) then you wont get any WTC and the more the income goes over the certain level which is normally between £12000 - £18000 then it will start to reduce your CTC so you wouldnt get the full amount of CTC either. Claiming without children either you or a partner would have to be working 30 hours minimum, unless either you or a partner was disabled then you'd be able to claim from 16 hours. If you have no kids and are on your own look at claiming JSA, u can claim if you work less than 16 hours, they will top your income up to some degree. Its so complicated i no, hope some of this helped.

I believe it has to be 16 ,Sorry.
