you can only go back 3 years - this is WAY beyond the statute of limitations

If you had a refund coming for those years, you are about 17 years too late to claim it.

chatsplas
Too late for any refunds--only go back 3 years. You still might or might not have an obligation to file a return for those years, though. Did you earn more than $8000?

Too late.

John Scott
Don't file the returns as someone suggested. If the IRS was going to go after you, they would have done so long ago.

Much too late. Three years after the due date is the time limit.

rtfm
It's much too late to file for a refund, yes. Refunds are only good for the most recent three tax years. After that, the IRS doesn't have to return any of your money.

shiprepairwoman
File the returns anyhow. You can't get refunds but if you don't file they might come back decades later and claim you owe with interest. The clock doesn't start until the due date of the return or when you file to be audited so file, and if you do owe pay so interest stops.
