CRV = California Refund Value (sounds kind of faggotty to me...everywhere else this is called a 'deposit')
It is the nickel (or in California .04 or .08 depending on the size of the bottle) you pay when buying a can/bottle of soda or beer.
In Michigan it is .10 a can/bottle (Remember that Seinfeld episode with Newman and Kramer driving the mail truck from NYC to Saginaw on Mother's Day?)
In Canada, you get a cash refund ($1) per can/bottle. Not too many litterbugs up North now, are there? |

~As part of the California Recycling Program a CRV is charged when you purchase a product which is sold in a recyclable container.
~It is a method used to incourage people to recycle. When you return the empty recyclable containers to a Recycling Center you will get your money back.
