It's called a TV Licence here in the UK. You can buy them on the internet or at a shop displaying the yellow and purple Paypoint symbol (the Post Office no longer handles the TV Licence). It will cost £131.50 for a colour TV and alot less for a black and white one. |

yes but is in the form of a licence. £131.00, but you can pay monthly by Direct debit from the bank
Its not a tax as such, but a fee which goes mostly to the BBC who are not funded by advertising and supports the BBC radio and TV |

You require a television licence, but you are able to have more than one t.v. in the property as the licence covers your home not the individual t.v. |

You have to purchase a TV licence from Any Local Post Office or any shop that has a pay point. You get a card, and you have to put money onto this so when you get your YEARLY bill, the card has some of the money to pay it. Or you can just pay the whole amount when the bill comes in, and not worry about any cards.
I hope I answered you question well enough. :-) |

Hi Carlos,
Everyone so far is quite right - yet so WRONG.
The TV licence fee payable is a form of taxation, but everyone has omitted that when you buy a TV we also pay VAT (Value Added Tax) at 17 and 1/2% of the Net cost.
Plus, when you plug the TV into the mains, we are also taxed VAT at 5% of the Net cost of the electricity it uses
Hope this helps.... |

Yeah, it's a Television licence and you have to have one by law. We have something called the BBC and it has made some of the best programmes you can find. Unfortunately nothing is for free and we have to pay in some way. |

It is called TV Licence and you have to pay annually for it. You can pay by regular Direct Debit installments throughout the year or by a lump some. If you do not have a TV Licence you run the risk of being caught and can be fined up to £1000. I'd get one asap! |

EVERYTHING you do in the UK is taxed. And when you die, they tax what you leave behind. It is daylight robbery!!! I think an investigation should be underway. All this tax, and a crappy quality of life. Ok the NHS is a big drain, but it is a shambles! |
