In which states are people not responsible for paying federal taxes?
I think it's only in the state of confusion. As far as I know, if you are a resident of any state of the US, the District of Columbia, or any of the US possessions, and make enough money to have taxable income, you are required and responsible for filing a federal income tax return and paying federal income taxes. There are some states that don't have a state income tax, but there is nowhere you can go to avoid federal income tax.

Federal taxes are required to be paid by all US citizens and residents. There aren't any states where people don't have to pay.
There are several states that don't have a STATE income tax - maybe that's what you're thinking of.

Did you ever hear the saying: "All you have to do is pay taxes and die"?
That's how it goes as far as the federal government is concerned!!!

There is no state when it comes to federal taxes. Now for State taxes, there are a few that do not have state taxes.

None. US citizens and residents are taxed on their world-wide income form all sources regardless of where they live. Even if you live outside of the US, you still must pay your taxes on time.
If your STATE doesn't have an income tax, you won't have to deal with that but EVERYONE is subject to FEDERAL taxes.
