Inland Revenue and Tax Refund E-mail?
I've just been sent this email, i don't know who they are or what they want but it says i'm eligible for a refund of £281.43. What is all this about? I'm fourteen, so why should i be getting e-mails like this sent to me? This is what it said ;

Inland Revenue Tax Refund - You are eligible to receive a tax refund of £281.43

You have 48 hours to complete your tax refund claim. To access the secure form for your tax refund, please click the link below:

the link starts with http://gnvs.net/https-login-HM_revenue..
i didn't click the link incase it was something dodgy, i just hovered over it.

HMRC do not use e-mail, they are too afraid of viruses getting into the system.
If you were due a refund, HMRC would possibly ask for more information from you (by post), and wouldn't commit to an amount at this point. If amount of overpayment was known, it would be sent straight to you by post.
Electronic refunds are only made to people in self-assessment, when the amount of refund is made straight to a bank account. Even in those cases, e-mails like you have received aren't sent.
I'll bet this e-mail asks for your bank account details. People normally submit these to HMRC on their Tax Returns. A week gives a long time for scammers to get away, and I note they are also asking for a National Insurance number. Attempted identity theft!

I got one of these and reported it to the Inland Revenue people via the phone and they gave me an e mail address to send it to so they could trace it. It is a hoax. My son always responds to these spams with bogus id's and he is not polite either. Just delete it!!!!!!!!

its a fraudulent e mail. do not send any details. there is a warning about this particular e mails on the hmrc website. hmrc will never contact you by email to tell you you are due a tax rebate. especially at the age of 14 lol

take care

It's a scam, stay away!
For a start your 14, secondly the tax office always writes letters, and thirdly they never send you a refund without you applying for one first!

Forget it sounds like a scam to me. could be identity fraud!

At 14 you cannot possibly get a tax refund. I suspect it is the new type of spam. gnvs.net is not the government link (.gov.uk - the right one)

Do not on any account click the link.

It is a scam because the Inland Revenue would make contact by mail showing the breakdown of an account and the resultant decision.
They do sometimes make mistakes :) and send bills and stuff to babies and even dead people. But these are human errors.

Yours is a scam.
