Uh, no, a married couple WITHOUT any children, taking a standard deduction, will get the $1200 if they make between around $30,000 and $150,000 - I'd guess there might be one or two couples in the US whose income is in that range. In many states, if two people are both working minimum wage jobs or slightly above that full time, they'd get the $1200. |

You get UP TO $1200, it depends on how much you paid into it. You are guaranteed $300 per child. But as of the $600 for individuals and $1200 for couples the key work is UP TO. |

When I tried the calculator for my husband and I (married filing jointly, no kids) it said to expect $1200. We'll see if it's right. |

Depending on how much tax you paid or your taxable income. If you paid under 600 in tax as a couple you will only get 600. If you paid 700 you get 700 back...900-900 back.. 1100-1100 back until you get to 1200 and then anyhting over that you get 1200 unless you nade over 150,000 then it starts to go down.
I had to take a 30 question quiz on it for college |

A lot of people seem to think that since they are married they will get $1,200, this is not the case.
People are over-looking what it really says and that is UP TO $1,200 for a married couple.
A lot of people are not getting the full $1,200 because they did not pay that much in on their taxes. |

Heres how it works
Single
Didnt pay in taxes-$300
Paid in taxes-$600
Married
Didnt pay in taxes- $600
Paid in taxes - $1200
Extra $300 per child |

The IRS website clearly states that married couples filing jointly and that qualify for the rebate will get UP TO $1200. $1200 is the maximum. The rebate depends on your tax liability. You did not have enough income to get the maximum amount and did not have a tax liability over $1200. This information was readily available...nothing strange about it. |

We got something in the mail about this and couples that file and their taxes are paid in full will get $1200.
If you only made 10,000 you didn't pay any taxes so you would be only getting $600 filing jointly. |

I think middle-class people are the ones who get $1,200, iirc -- I think it's something like $30,000 a year or more for that. |
