Irs stimulus rebates, is it a load of crap or what? no way you can get $1,200 as a couple filing jointly?
Myself(and my wife) both combined earnings are less than $10,000 never mind $150,000 but we filed jointly and were told to expect only $600

Relatives of ours also who earn way way less than the limit also filed jointly and were told to expect only $600

If you go on the official irs website and use their calculator type in your info off your tax retuns there is no way you can get the calculator to tell you your getting $1200 as a married couple filing jointly UNLESS you tell it you have children or some form of child tax credit etc, thats the only way the calculator ever tells you your getting over $600

So what is this crap, why does everywhere in the news and on yahoo keep telling us couples will get $1200 but no couple i now has been told they are getting more than $600 unless they have kids etc and are getting the extra $300 per child but still only the basic $600 for them

Which if you ask me is very strange

Maybe im wrong maybe we will get the $1200 but i doubt it!!

Well as to some poeples answers, i ran the calculator on their site all it asks is how much income you have earned doesnt ask for anything else other than income, then asks for your kids or not and any tax credits

No combination of any value of income or any combination of numbers creates a payment expected of $1200

And i can also say we paid a dam site more than $1200 in taxes over the last year from both of us working so that doesnt have nothing to do with it either

It doesnt matter if you type 4k 7k 10k 15k 20k 30k 50k or anything as the income value it never calculates to give you $1200 as the rebate so i cannot figure out how and who would get the $1200

I do agree that they are being very missleading and using the keyword UPTO but i have seen way more people getting or expectig tog et $600 than those expectign the full $1200

Uh, no, a married couple WITHOUT any children, taking a standard deduction, will get the $1200 if they make between around $30,000 and $150,000 - I'd guess there might be one or two couples in the US whose income is in that range. In many states, if two people are both working minimum wage jobs or slightly above that full time, they'd get the $1200.

My husband and I got ours back, and it was $1200, so no it's not a load of crap.

SlapChop Ur gonna love my nuts
You get UP TO $1200, it depends on how much you paid into it. You are guaranteed $300 per child. But as of the $600 for individuals and $1200 for couples the key work is UP TO.

When I tried the calculator for my husband and I (married filing jointly, no kids) it said to expect $1200. We'll see if it's right.

Not sure I used the same cauculator. Me and my husband should be getting 2100 accroding to the calculator. 900.00 of that is for our 3 kids. Mofo better not be wrong. I have bills to pay off!!!

Inedependent
Depending on how much tax you paid or your taxable income. If you paid under 600 in tax as a couple you will only get 600. If you paid 700 you get 700 back...900-900 back.. 1100-1100 back until you get to 1200 and then anyhting over that you get 1200 unless you nade over 150,000 then it starts to go down.

I had to take a 30 question quiz on it for college

A lot of people seem to think that since they are married they will get $1,200, this is not the case.
People are over-looking what it really says and that is UP TO $1,200 for a married couple.
A lot of people are not getting the full $1,200 because they did not pay that much in on their taxes.

Mandi
Heres how it works

Single
Didnt pay in taxes-$300
Paid in taxes-$600

Married
Didnt pay in taxes- $600
Paid in taxes - $1200

Extra $300 per child

The IRS website clearly states that married couples filing jointly and that qualify for the rebate will get UP TO $1200. $1200 is the maximum. The rebate depends on your tax liability. You did not have enough income to get the maximum amount and did not have a tax liability over $1200. This information was readily available...nothing strange about it.

i used the calculator and myself and my hubby have no kids and the calculator told me we're gettin $1200 but we made 80k and some change this year i dont work he does but the calculator said we're gettin $1200

We got something in the mail about this and couples that file and their taxes are paid in full will get $1200.

If you only made 10,000 you didn't pay any taxes so you would be only getting $600 filing jointly.

mhowie01
I think middle-class people are the ones who get $1,200, iirc -- I think it's something like $30,000 a year or more for that.
