conny | Is 157.00 too high to get you taxes done? |
It seems when the people who do taxes charget so much or that the going rate. I have heard that when people do thier own taxes they don't as much back. It makes no sense but that is what I have heard. Because the people who do taxes know the ways to get more. What do you think? |

Conny you seem like a very smart person just use turbo tax you will find it hard to make a mistake |

If you have a moderately complex return, that would be reasonable.
If you have a simple return that can be prepared in less than one hour, then I think it is too much.
As far as the claims that professional preparers give you a bigger refund, that could be true if you do not keep up with the tax law changes that affect you. |

Does seem high at first blush. But it depends on a lot of factors. How complex is your situation? Do you own property? Have several employers? Many deductions/withholdings? Self-employed? Depending on those answers, that price might not be too high.
Also, many less-expensive CPAs will want you to do a lot of legwork to prepare in advance. Gathering paperwork, filling out questionnaire, etc. If this is a full-service CPA with a good reputation, it might be reasonable. |

its only that high if you are trying to get rapid refund. I have done taxes both ways and I much prefer having it prepared by a professional. I even bought turbotax one year didnt look right, took to HR block and got alot more money, so I personally believe it is worth a professionals opinion, plus they back you up if it is wrong |

For like $20 or $30 you can do your tax return online at TurboTax. I've used this for years and highly recommend it to people.
Chances are that the people you'd pay $157 to are using TurboTax, anyway, just charging a whole lot more.
It's handled the most complex of my tax situations, and I've always received a larger tax refund than I was expecting because it asked me about things I never would have thought about.
(I am not affililated with the TurboTax company; I'm just a happy customer.) |

That is a lot.
Do them yourself. That $157 could go toward a bill or something. |

That is high, but I caution against doing them yourself. In my experience tax preparers or accountants generally do get you more back. Check around and see if a smaller tax preparer might be cheaper, not a chain like H & R Block or Jackson Hewitt. |

Way too much!!!! If you go to one of those places like HR Block that's the type of fee they will charge. You are better off doing it yourself if you don't have a lot of deductions. |
