sophie0811 | Is a salary increase the same as a bonus? |
I've just been told that I've been given a salary increase. Is this my Christmas bonus, or will I be receiving that as well? |

All the above are correct, but in addition:
A Salary Increase is possibly BETTER than a Bonus because it also affects other things that are measured against your 'Salary' like Pension, next years wage increase, Redundancy pay, sick pay, etc, all of which will be increased, whereas a 'bonus' has no effect on these things. |

a bouns is a one time thing, a salary increase is forever as long as ur not fired |

Your Christmas bonus is separate, so you should receive that as well... |

A salary increase is an increase in your basic amount of pay, and is totally apart from any bonus that you may be given.
Bonus is usually tied to performance (yours and the company's) and is payed out yearly if the year has been profitable. |

Nope, never even had a xmas bonus in my 20 odd years of work! |

A salary increase is a permanent rise in your money whereas a bonus is an extra payment which is not guaranteed and they do not have to pay one - even if you have had one in the past. |

No. A salary increase means that your pay will increase from now on and continue at the higher rate. A bonus just means that for that month you will get a little bit more. |

No, a bonus is a one-off payment, a salary increase is permanent!
Of course, a tight-fisted employer may offer a pay rise in lieu of a bonus! |

Salary increase is your yearly wage increased, a bonus is one off...please dont tell me your an accountant. |

Hi
Lucky you, you must have worked hard....
A salary increase is a permanent thing.
A bonus is a one off payment.
Enjoy it. |
