Is an employee number the same as a PAYE reference number?
Need the info for a tax return.

No.

The PAYE reference number idetifies to which tax office you belong and identifies you and your employer to them. This number will change if you move employers and also if you move to being handled by a different tax office.

Your employee number identifies you to your employers for payroll purposes. Naturally this will change if you leave and take up employment with a different employer.

Your National Insurance number is the only one that won't ever change, as it tracks your N.I contributions throughout your working life.

No the PAYE reference number is the number pertaining to that particular company as allocated by the Inland revenue.

An employee number is one allocated by the company itself and is an internal number

No Your PAYE Number is the number that the payroll part of the buisness you work for knows you as.

Your Employee Number is completely different and can be obtained from your supervisor or manager and is used by the area manager for disaplinarys and complaints!

PAYE reference number is purley the tax refernece number used for the paye of the business....usually sarts with 3 numbers then a / eg 432/????

The employee number is simply the number a payrol department attaches to a particular employee of their business

No they are not. An employee number is internal to the company and has no connection with PAYE. Your PAYE number is the tax code which should be notified to you each by the tax authorities. It will also normally appear on your payslip. The following link which give an explanation of what you are looking for http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/index/life/tax/the_pay_as_you_earn_paye_system.htm#What_is_the_Pay_As_You_Earn_PAYE_system

no not at all

Paddy
Filling in a tax return the Inland Revenue would have access to all your details from your national Insurance No. which is also referred to as your Tax Reference. this would be in the form of :- XY 12 34 56 A, On the front of your Tax Return would be your UTR, unique tax ref, this is a ten digit number eg. 12345 67890. The employer's number which is also on the front of your tax return is, Employer's Reference, usually in the form:- 789/01/600. If you are doing your own tax return you should ask the tax office for a tax return form where all these will be shown on the front.Unless your doing a partnership return which I used to all you really need is your NI.No. The PAYE No: is the reference applied by the Tax Office after you have submitted your tax return and is used to calculate your tax

confucious says
THEY BOTH COULD BE THE SAME IT WILL DEPEND ON THE COMPANIES METHODS ON THE BALANCE OF PROBABILTIES IT WOULD APPEAR TO BE A GOOD WAY OF KEEPING TRACK OF EMPLOYEES YOUR PAYE NUMBER IS UNIQUE SO IT WOULD MAKE GOOD BUSNINESS SENSE FOR THE COMPANY TO USE IT ALSO BUT THERE IS NO HARD AND FAST RULE IT MAY NOT BE THE CASE IT WILL ALL DEPEND ON THE EMPLOYER

PAYE stands for pay as you earn.
If you have an employer you should call the wages department as ask for the company's PAYE number.

Could be wrong...but I think not.....I think the PAYE ref. no. is same as your National Insurance number, but I could be totally wrong.....

Devil Calls me Dad
go to the HR & ask them about office which deals with their employess Tax matters & also the ref Numba you need to Qoute as well, which represent your Employer, so you need a contact number + your employers ref number + your pay slip to get your tax sorted , hope it helps

no employer number is for the company's internal records. PAYE (Pay As You Earn) is the taxpeople.

mal g
No! Your employee number is given to you by your employer, and usually changes whenever you change your place of work (change jobs). Whereas your PAYE ref. no. remains the same.
