******* | Is child benefit and child tax credits the same thing? |
im at home looking after my little boy and my partner works, we get working tax credit and child tax credit but not child benefit or is it the same thing, im a bit confused, |

It's not the same thing. Tax credits are means-tested benefits for low income people/familes.
Child benefit (or child allowance) is what everyone with children gets - just like education / nhs etc. Child benefit is at a set rate of £18.80 (soon increasing to £20) per week for the oldest child and about £13 per week for every other child.
Tax credits amounts on the other hand vary wildly.
Both have to be claimed. |

Child benefit is what everyone gets for their children, it doesnt matter if you work or not, or how much you earn.
Child tax credit goes on how much you earn and you get it in your wages |

No Child Benefit is separate from Tax Credits, Go claim it :D You should get approx 70 quid a month or you can get it weekly :D
P.S head office is in Newcastle and you will need your sons birth certificate in the application process x |

NO!
Child Benefit is claimed by anyone with children.
Child Tax Credit is a means tested benefit and is generally for the lower paid. |

Everyone gets child benefit, regardless of income. People on a low income get working and child tax. |

You should automatically get child benefit when your register your child's birth. It is £18.80 per week for your eldest child. If you don't get child benefit, you need to call the inland revenue to ask why. Child and working tax credits are different and are based on your earnings. |
|

Liberty
|
Tax credit is tax money paid back if you meet certain working conditions.
You get child benefit as a mother anyway. You must speak to the Inland Revenue as you're entitled to both.
Check the website for more information. |
