No, only medical expenses that are incurred by qualified dependents can be deducted, and in the eyes of the IRS, your pet doesn't count as a qualified dependent.

For your pet, no.

Not if it is a personal pet, but if it is a service dog such as a seeing eye dog, some expense may be deductable.

'Fraid not, unless the dog is part of your business, such as if she performs a service, such as acting in movies. If you have to keep spending money like that, you might want to go that route!

I'm kidding! Good for you for taking such good care of your pets! All three of my dogs, and both cats are rescues, so I know they often cost a small fortune in vet care, from being neglected, or nevering having had maintenance care...but the love they give back is priceless.

I hope all is well now!

For an idividual, no. If you breed and raise dogs in a business situtation then it would be. I have a client who breeds, raises and sells great danes as a business and in such a situation all vet expenses are a business expense.

Judy1
Only if you are a dog breeder and this bill was in the course of your business. For a pet, no.

Jss
No

Medical bills are deductible for dependents only. So if your dog has a social security number you can probably get away with it!

Never
