martyhorn | Is everybody wealthy on this site? |
I make a statement about the state of Florida wanting to lower property taxes and raising sale taxes. And so far only got 1 answer. Do all of you own million dollar home so when property taxes are lowered you can a big new car. Do what do care about the poor, barely making it have their sale taxes increased??? |

The poor folks are actually hurt by this. Poor folks pay little to no property taxes, so lowering them won't help at all. On the other hand, poor folks have to buy goods just like anybody else, so the increase in sales tax will hurt them. |

sorry i missed the other question. I'll go have a look now. but i don't live in Florida so they may affect my ability to answer. we'll see. |

Uh, well first of all you asked the same question twice, and you have 4 answers between the two. And it wasn't really a question anyway, since you started with a question but then answered it yourself with your opinion, which is pretty obviously correct.
Of course, if you lower property taxes the people paying the highest taxes will benefit most. What can anybody say to that? |

no, i wouldn't consider myself wealthy unless my networth is over $20 million. and even if the property tax was lowered on my home, it would not be enough to buy me a new car, big or small.
perhaps the reason you got only 1 answer is because not too many people out there who care to give an opinion about sales tax or property tax in the state of florida?
there are a lot of programs out there to care for the poor. one third of my pay check goes to the government, which includes welfare programs and all. i work monday through friday. so on monday and more than half of tuesday, i work to pay the bills of other people, which include poor people. is that enough? and you're ranting and raving because the government is increasing sales tax? everybody pays sales tax -- rich, poor or the middle class. gimme a break!
make sure you vote this november if you really want to make your voice heard. |

You've posted the same thing 3 times and I've responded twice. What more do you want? An egg in your beer??
I'm on your side here. FL is obviously pandering to the wealthy at the expense of the poor. Many middle class taxpayers will probably break even so they don't care and are not fighting it.
The poor have little voice and nobody to champion their cause. You'd do a LOT more for them by starting a grassroots operation in FL to get the word out locally and fire up some passion to have this law stricken. Griping here won't get you very far. |

maybe you could ask a question if somebody would hire you in a good paying job..... if a person joins the airforce and you pick aircraft maintenance to train in , it can lead to a good paying job on the outsidde. |

im skeptical about this question.....are they raising sales tax for everything???? like rice/eggs or are they raising sales tax for things like hummers and jet skis? |

Maybe we are tired of hearing this question - it hardly the only time somebody has brought it up. Trading property tax for a higher sales tax is not a question of wealthy vs. poor. It is rewarding people for investing in a residence in the state, and making up the lost revenue by charging everybody (poor, wealthy, residents, tourists, etc.) a little more when they buy something.
People with more income do buy more and therefore pay more sales tax than poor people, so nobody is buying your argument anyway. |

I didn't even see your original question. As a Florida (more specifically, Tampa) resident, I can definitely say that I'm nowhere near wealthy. Property taxes being lowered is good, but sales taxes being heightened is indeed a very bad thing, at least for most of us that are just making it as it is. |
