Not at all. Just because you file doesn't mean you fall into of any of the stereo types; It is something to help you between jobs. |

No not at all. I did. I worked at the post office, they layed me off, so I filed. Then I got a job at Microsoft and then Google. Im self employed now but there are no negative effects from it. |

No, so long as you were not fired from your job, you can probably file for unemployment. If you have bills to pay I'd suggest you file as soon as possible. |

Only if you did Not have enough earnings in the quarter they are using for determination .
Then you spent your gas $$$$ on getting to the UI office for nada .
Did you have enough earnings to qualify ?
Many states have a phone number you can call but the hold time can be looooooong .
good luck

No, it is a help the government gives to peple. However, don't think for a minute that the government does this out of the goodness of their heart Oh NO!, there is a reason. When you collect unemployment you also get certain help in regards to getting another job. The governemtn wants you to go back to work as soon as possible so that they can tax you. I does the government or anybody else no good to have you unemplyed and without money. You would worry too much about eating and paying rent and what not. You become too unproductive With the money they give you it can help you stay afloat for a little bit. Hopefully enough time to find a new job. Unemployment is only a percentage of what you earned at your last job.
You also have to think that not everybody qualifies for unemployment. In order to qualify you have to be let go off. If you quit your job you are not eligible. I think if you get fired you are also not eligible. However, if the company lays you off you are. Being laid off means that he company terminated your employment but, that it is not your fault. It could be that the company is downsizing for example. This is different than punching your boss in the face in which case you will get fired.
The only thing shameful about it is the few people that milk the system. Other than that is a good thing. |

they deduct so many things from your wages. you are part of the system. until you manage to change the system, accept things the way they are. go with the flow. maybe you can find another job soon. unless you move to another country, you would be wise to obey the law and accept the system. your philosophy to do otherwise will only frustrate you. the nail that sticks up, gets hammered down. it is your choice. |

No, it is never a bad idea to 'earn' extra money, and you contributed to it while you were working - well we have to when in a permanent post |
