I just think it makes more sense. People should be able to keep 100% of their pay check. We should replace the IRS with the Fair Tax.

Is it illegal to fill out and complete a w-2 form that was accidentally made in your name?
I got a w-2 form in the mail from Wal-Mart yesterday and i never worked at Wal-Mart.

Does the JAIL HOUSE POLKA sound good then file it.

You should immediately contact the IRS and the Social Security Administration AND check your credit report. You are likely a victim of identity theft. At the very least someone has used your name and SSN illegally for employment purposes.

write2kimberlymueller
You may be a victim of identity theft!

Contact WalMart and tell them you have never worked for them. If that employee still works there, they may be in big trouble!!!

If you file it with the IRS, you are guilty of a federal crime. Dont do it. DO notifiy the IRS that the taxes and earnings are not yours because they can come after you for 10 years for tax debts not paid.

If the WalMart W2 doesnt screw up your taxes due, that is the best situation but if you add it in (on scratch paper only) to your wages and it changes the taxes due, you could get a bill a decade from now and it will really be hard to explain then!

you idiot

Call Wal-Mart. You know you can't sign a tax form stating that the income is yours without the potential for severe repercussions.

Does spending time in prison for fraud sound like something you would like to be doing after you file it, and the other person gets his missing W2 replaced and files it too?

Hollywood
You may "accidentally" end up in prison if you fill that out, trust me, it will come back to haunt ya! I would be more concerned about finding out who is using your name (identity theft??)
