Is it possible to sue the IRS for mishandling funds?
This is a serious question. Any info would be great.

You can file a suit against anybody for anything. Winning is tougher.

I can't determine exactly what your real issue is but expect it is something that would result in a summary dismissal of the case for failure to state a claim for which relief could be granted.

Maryfrances
I think you have to have permission from Congress to sue the government. Good luck. You ought to be able to, but I doubt it would be satisfactory, in reality.

The IRS has a "complaints" office. I doubt you'll get what you want, but it's worth a try. You can also complain to your congressperson. Of course, they are subject to the IRS, too, so they might not be aggressive about helping you.

You can sue anyone you want to. The real question is: Can you win?

Agaist the IRS.....No, probably not.

You'd need to post more info on the problem for anyone to state a sensible opinion.

Ms. Angel..
Good luck trying, you will never win.

I would assume so, but like the others have said, it may take a long time for them to actually deal with it. However, if you have a good attorney that can threaten the lawsuit, it might help, but this is just me being curious also, LOL. I wish I could find the answer to that with the Social Security office.
