You have up to three years to file your taxes. When you are getting a refund there will be no penalties or interest. In fact, the IRS will be paying you a small amount of interest based on your refund since they "borrowed" your money longer than April 15th. This is true if you have to file a state return as well.

not too late unless it's a return that's more than 3 years old...tax years 2005, 2006 and 2007 are still open and you can file for any of those years...and if you're due a refund you will get it...also if you're due a refund there will be no penalty or interest...that is applicable only to a balance due.

info directly from the IRS website:

Generally, if a taxpayer is due a refund for withholding or estimated taxes paid, it must be claimed *within 3 years of the return due date* or risk losing the right to it.

You will get your refund, it will take about 6-8 weeks.

The only thing it's too late for is the stimulus check based on your 2007 tax return, but since you are probably a dependent, this is not that big a deal since you wouldn't have gotten one anyway.

You can file delinquent taxes any time. If you are due a refund for years before 2005, you will not get them. For 2005, 6 and 7, you will get any refund due.

If you are due a refund, there is no penalty for filing late; if you own them, they WILL charge a penalty. Tell your mama she is incorrect in this instance. (Don't use the word "wrong" as we mamas don't like to be that word, my friend!)

And I know what I am talking about, because I used to work for H & R Block when I was in college.

You're late, but if you are talking about the one you should have filed by April, and you have a refund coming, you'll still get it.

Paul
April 15th is the deadline... better hope the IRS doesn't read this.

IF IT IS TAXES FOR 07 YOU CAN STILL FILE BUT THERE WILL BE PENALITIES TO PAY . IF 08 YOU CAN FILE ANYTIME AFTER 12-31-08 AFTER YOU GET THE LAST OF YOU W4S FOR 08 IN
