Yea, the most advanced country in the world is like that. But, Japan and Korea are far worse believe me. I guess European are in a constant vacation. Vive la lazy people! Well, that's the way the world goes I guess.

2 weeks is fairly standard.... It's up to the employer... In my different jobs...

First job out of college... 2 weeks
2nd job.... 4 weeks
3rd job.... 2 weeks
Current job.... 3 weeks.

bostonianinmo
No. Some get more and some get less. Many get none. There is no statutory entitlement to paid vacation in the US. It's all up to negotiation with your employer.

No federal nor most state law requires employers to provide *any* paid vacations.

It's up to the individual employers to provide it. They find it good to provide it for the benefits to everybody from taking time away from work.

Some give one week, some two, some three; but again, some none.

No. It varies by employer.

Where do you live?
Some American's don't get any paid leave !
It depends on the employer and whether or not you work full time. The amount of time off is different with different employers also.

larryhuckabee
Most places of employment will grant an employee 2 weeks of paid vacation a year, but the federal law on the subject guarantees only 1 week of paid vacation a year.

IKP
It really depends on the employer. My parents get 4 weeks paid off a year. My guess is that this time next year my first out of college job will give me 2. A lot don't get any paid time off though.
