Is it true that everyone's stimulus check will be direct deposited by TODAY, May 2nd?
I've read in the news that the schedule was updated, and that now everyone who did direct deposit for taxes will be getting their stimulus direct deposits by May 2nd.

I PRAY that this is true!!!

No, it's not true at all. The IRS started a week early, but it will still take about 3 weeks to send out the millions of ACH transfers for direct deposit and then another 6 weeks or so to handle the check payments. And this is ONLY for the folks in the first batch of recipients. Anyone whose return was not processed by the IRS by the April 15th filing deadline will receive theirs after the first wave. That works out to about April 3rd for e-filers and March 3rd for paper filers. If you filed much later than those dates, you WON'T be in the first batch of payments.

I read the same thing. Everything according to the news was supposed to be ahead and all direct deposits by May 2nd. All I have heard now is conflicting reports.

If you go to the irs website and click on "Wheres My Refund" there is a link to "Wheres my stimulus" on that page. A lot of people have been having issues with that site though. So, who knows. Best of luck.

Might be a good time for us all to bow are heads.

It isnt. Here it is Friday and the last four of my social are 05 and nada. I tried to look it up on WHERES MY ECONOMIC STIMULUS PAYMENT and it says they have no information for me. I heard though, a lot of people are having difficulty with these sites.

I did hear that if you used a website like TAX act of turbo tax and had the fees taken out you will receive a paper check? I called the IRS And the lady looked it up for me and said this was correct. However, my SIL did the taxact like me and had her funds taken out and well, she called the IRS And they said DOn't believe anything anyone else says that we will be getting direct deposit. I love two different answers..I can't get a straight answer out of anyone,

I thought the dd's all came in by midnight? I know mine did. I waited all week also.

Only for SSN with last 2-digits between 00 to 20.

IRS began the transfer economic stimulus payments from April 28, 2008, and many have already seen the payments in their bank accounts. Those who opted for direct deposit will be the first to get the rebate. Mailing of paper check will begin from May 16. Those with last two digits of SSN between 88 to 99 will get paper check after July 4, 2008.

Those who did not get full tax rebate this year, will get remaining money in 2009 when they file their 2008 return and qualify.

For information on stimulus tax rebate schedule, the eligibility and how much rebate you will get read: http://taxipay.blogspot.com/2008/02/are-you-eligible.html

If you went through a tax service (turbotax, liberty, H&R) or whomever, and they deducted your filing “fees” from your refund, then you will NOT be getting your stimulus direct deposited and will instead be getting a check in the mail. This happens because: When you file through a tax service, and you have yours fees deducted from your return, the US Department of Treasury sends your return to that tax service, and then the tax service takes their cut, and “they” direct deposit the rest into your account. The US Dep of Treasury never actually has your bank account information during that process.

However, if you filed and the tax service was free or you paid for your return out of your own pocket, then your stimulus will be deposited into the same bank account as your return.

Hopefully all of that made since.
