Is it worth amending my 2008 tax return?
So here's the story...I realized that I didn't include any info from my 1098-T form I got from my university in 2008. I remembered to do it in 2009 and because of one of the new education credits I was able to get a good chunk of change back. After I realized this I said to myself "Oh, I should re-do my 2008 to see about claiming some money I might have missed out on." But I've been doing some research and it seems between 2008-2009 they changed/added some credits. It looks like in 2008 they only had non-refundable credits that could reduce your taxes owed but non that you could get money on. So my question is, since all of the 2008 education credits seem to be non-refundable and seeing as I never owed any taxes to begin with in 2008 would it just be a waste of time and money to have someone amend it for me and re-send it in? Thank you to all who answer and I will choose the best answer ASAP.
