Yes, but he would need to match your paychecks with what your salary is supposed to be. If you are making say.. $30k per year, then your paychecks would all need to be $1250 (24 paychecks) before taxes instead of $1153 (26 paychecks). There are 52 weeks in a year, so biweekly payments would mean 26 paychecks.. and if less, the 2 weeks would need to be spread out in pay on the 24 paychecks. I assume you are on salary? Calculate your paychecks and see if they would total up to what you are supposed to be getting paid by the year.
If you are hourly, it's simple, you just get paid by the hours you worked. Good Luck. |

It is normal to be paid twice a month. it is fine. As long as he is paying you for the correct amount of hours. Many people get paid 24 times per year. Just make sure you get paid for all of the hours you worked. |

You will not be losing any pay, jsut the number of days will fluctuate within each pay period, some will include 14 days, others 15 or 16, depending upon the month. You should be gettting paid your hourly rate times the number of hours you worked within the applicable pay period. If you are a salaried worker then you get paid on an annual salary which would be divided by 24 for each pay check regardless of the hours you work. |

I assume from your question that you are a salaried worker. If so, your pay should be the same every paycheck, regardless of the hours you worked. The gross pay should be your annual salary divided by 24. If he paid you every two weeks, it would be your annual salary divided by 26. The annual pay is the same either way.
Is he cheating you? Not if he is paying what he promised. However, that doesn't mean the job is worth keeping. Only you can decide that. |

You're not getting cheated. All that's happening is that, instead of getting paid every two weeks, you're getting paid twice a month. The money will work out exactly right: you get fewer paychecks per year, but more money in each paycheck.
The paycheck you get on the 22nd of each month will be for all the hours you worked from the 1st through the 15th. The paycheck you get on the 7th of each month will be for all the hours you worked from the 16th through the last day of the month previous (whether it's the 30th or the 31st or even the 29th!)
Keep track of the actual hours you work each day. Then compare those hours with what it says on your pay stub. If there's a discrepancy, point it out to your boss. But don't assume he's cheating you. Bimonthly paychecks are very common. Most employers keep accurate records. The penalties for them are too severe if they don't. |

You know, I thought the same thing when I re-enlisted in the Army. I'm getting 2 paychecks a month. One on the 1st and one on the 15th. That's 24 checks a year. Then I remembered how I was getting paid every two weeks for being a restaurant manager and became sad. I'm missing out on 2 paychecks. Oh well... I'm sittin phat now! |

if you get 24 paychecks a year, then maybe you are supposed to get two weeks off per year. It sounds like you are on salary, which is perfectly legal for a manager position. Yes, he can give you 24 paychecks, but you can take off two weeks at any time, and tell him you are not getting paid for it!!! I would call your local labor board, and don't waste your time here.. It sounds like you need to get a better job! |
