Is the Rumor true about H&R Block? If you used H&R Block, your rebate will be mailed no matter what.?
I used direct deposit with H&R Block and I received nothing on the 2nd cause my ss ends 13. I heard if you used them a paper check will be mailed no matter what. I checked IRS site and called the number still.......NOTHING.

Anyone else?

it is not a rumor, I just called.. if you filed by turbo tax, H&R Block or Hewitt. you will receive it by check.. my last two are 10 and I will receive it by May 23rd BY CHECK!! that sucs big time... you can verify again by calling the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 option 2 then 3, the operator is there I thought it was closed I called about 5 min ago. My wife and I had plans for this weekend for that money... oh well we're going to have to wait to be mailed out until the 23rd. WE FILED THROUGH H&R ELECTRONICALLY DIRECT DEPOSIT.

No, that is NOT true. Who prepared your taxes is irrelevant to how your rebate will be paid.

How you received you REFUND is what matters. If you paid your fees up front and had your refund sent directly to your bank by the IRS then you'll receive your rebate the same way. If you chose a RAL or had your tax prep fees withheld from your refund then you'll receive a check in the mail.

Just because you haven't received your refund yet doesn't mean that you won't get it by direct deposit. The IRS is quite clear on the fact that only those whose tax returns were PROCESSED by the April 15th filing deadline will be in the first batch of recipients. That works out to an e-filing date of about April 3rd or a mailed paper return filed about March 3rd.

Finally, it can take a few days from the time the IRS releases the ACH transfer for the funds to show up in your bank account. Your bank's posting procedures will make a lot of difference there. Some post in real time and you'd generally see it at the beginning of the next banking day. Others batch process them with the end-of-day posting and that can add a couple of days to the posting time.

It is just a rumor.
Those answering the IRS phones are not guaranteed to give out the correct info, either. You could call the IRS number 5 times and be given 5 different answers. If it is not posted on the IRS website in writting then it is not fact.
If it were fact that everyone who filed using a tax preperation agency was getting a paper check that is what would be posted on the IRS website.

It's true IF you did a refund anticipation loan (RAL) with them or you let them take the fee out of your refund rather thanpaying for it up front. Here's why.

See facts at irs. gov / newsroom and click on 1. Economic Stimulus Payment Information center 2. FAQ 3. Other Questions 4. When and how It's the 3rd to last question.

It says:

Q. I chose direct deposit for my 2007 tax refund but also requested a refund anticipation loan (RAL) from my preparer. How does that affect my stimulus payment?

A. Taxpayers who use RALs or enter into any other loan or financial agreement with their tax professional (like preparation fees being taken out of the refund) cannot receive their stimulus payments by direct deposit and instead will get a paper check.

One of my friends filed with H&R simple pay and they got a direct deposit a few days later than expected, but it was from H&R block instead of the IRS.

I called H and R Block and they said that if you got your return by direct deposit (no matter if you used Simple Pay or Paid your fees up front), you will get your rebate direct deposited. This is what H & R Block told me. Cal your local H &R Block to ask and let me know what they say.

Cragar
I heard the same thing. H&R really sticking it to the man.

Not quite true, but they push pretty hard to have your refund deposited on their card, and if yours was it'll probably mean your rebate will be a paper check.
