Is there a law requiring US citizens to pay taxes?

Yes. They are included as part of the Title 26 of the U.S. Code. You can read them at http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/26/usc_sup_01_26.html or at http://uscode.house.gov/download/title_26.shtml

Yes, and also those workers who work in the US, legal or not.

"THEY SHOULD MAKE IT A LAW FOR ILLEGALS TO PAY TAX THEN TOO-PAY OR GET OUT !!!"

Everyone working in the US is subject to the tax, unless they are exempt by treaty or type of visa, neither of which would apply to an undocumented worker here for more than half a year. Undocumented workers are already subject to deportation, whether they pay their taxes or not.

16th amendment - read it an weep.

Of course there is! MANY laws, actually. Literally THOUSANDS of them nation wide.

Not sure who the morons are with the "thumbs down" ratings here but taxes are levied at virtually ALL levels of government in the US. A few folks have mentioned Title 26 of the US Code but that is only ONE of thousands of laws that implement taxes of one type or another.

Article 1, Section 8 of The Constutituion grants Congress the power to lay taxes of all types. This right flows directly to the several States and every State grants the power to lay taxes to local jurisdictions. By the time you get to the individual taxpayer there are literally dozens of taxes levied upon them at various levels of government.
