Is there a maximum age for a child to be claimed as a dependent on his or her parents' taxes?

CEESONE
depends, if they are over 18 and in college or live at home mental uncapable of taking care of themselves!

jo w
To be claimed as a dependent:
Age-the person must be

under age 19 at the end of the year, or
under age 24 and a be a full-time student for at least five months out of the year, or
any age and totally and permanently disabled.

This is the qualifications on age in order to be a dependent.

21 if they are in college full time, 18 if not.

kcmamacita
you can claim anyone that is living in your house hold and you help support them but once they turn 18 you don't get as much money back for them.

Jacques
No. Anyone can be a dependent as long as the person claiming them has contributed to more than half of that person's expenses.

New Mommy
Usually its up to 22yrs, that is, if they have lived in your home for at least 6 months of the year.
