Is there a relationship between the number or years completed in school and annual income?

You bet that they are positively correlated.

you bet there is. the average person that gets a degree makes around $16,000 more per year than a high school grad...

education makes a big difference in how much $$$ you make over a lifetime.

I would like to point out one item not mentioned: the college you graduate from plays a very important role in salary. The better the college the higher the pay. If you graduate from Stanford with an MBA or some no-name college with an MBA, you guess who's making the big bucks.

jmt
absolutely, but that doesn't mean there aren't tons of successful people w/out degrees.. many entrapenours in fact..

Statistically, there definitely is. That means that on the average, someone with more schooling makes more money. This might not apply to any given person - you can find examples of people who never finished high school who have made a lot of money, usually in their own business.

Yes, but it is a statistical trend, not a point for point match. In general, the more schooling, the greater likelyhood of a higher income. However, one can always find examples of school dropouts who make big money and PhDs who are unemployed.

So, that means that "ladybf" is exactly wrong.

Statistical trends, even though they are based on real data, are not the same as laws.

You want an answer that will end any arguments, right?!
First of all, education doesn't guarantee anything whether you're a Stanford or community college graduate. One thing for sure is that you will be in debt after graduation and it is a fact.

Remember this, if you work for somebody else they don't care what your educational background or experience they only care about their bottom line. You are in line to get your pink slip once the bottom line is slipping away. These are the facts of life and make no excuses for these or else you'll be disappointed so my suggestion is have lots of fun while your at it, ok?!!!

I have a buddy who has a MBA that got laid off twice and got fired once. So he decided to start his own business only to find out that he didn't need a college education.

A few years later after starting a business, he got his new MBA that means Major Bank Account. Now he's with the likes of Bill Gates and Michael Dell who don't have any college degree. So to say that college education will provide a better career path is taboo.

It's all in the person's drive and motivation. If you want to be average and ordinary be employed however if a dream life is is in your plan be an entrepreneur have lots of fun and enjoy the ride, ok?! There so many wonderful things out there for you to discover. Step outside of the box and you're in for a time of your life.

Education guarantees diploma but not success. If it is, schools will have a money back policy if you are not a success outside of schools, right?

So it's all up to you. We live in the land of opportunity so take advantage of it and don't forget to have a life instead of working for a living.

Yes, but not always.

If you go along with the crowd, the first part of this statement is more likely to be true, but if you are a "self starter," highly motivated and creative, the second has a better chance of being true.

ladybf
The more education you possess, the more your income will be. A person with a master will make more than a person with a bachelor who will make more than a person with an associates who will make more than a person with a high school diploma.
