Yes, if you use the tax table you will get a certain amount like $1600 per dependent (I think that is what it was last year, I've checked this year's yet). It is on the back page of your 1040. |

Claiming yourself, spouse, children is $3,300 X's each exemption. Your exemptions are added up on lines 6a, b, and c.
The Child Tax Credit is $1000 per child. But it only reduces any tax. If there is no tax to reduce, you don't get the credit.
You may qualify for the Additional Child Tax Credit and the EIC, which increases your chance for a good refund. |
