Sure! Cut your income down below the filing requirement amount for your filing status. For 2007, that will be $8,750 if your status is Single, you're under 65, and you are not the dependent of another taxpayer. Good luck living on that kind of money, but you won't be paying any Federal Income Tax.
BTW, a couple of folks have suggested moving out of the country and giving up your US citizenship. That won't even work in most cases. If the IRS feels that the reason you did that was to dodge US taxes, they can still go after your for US taxes for 10 years after you relinquish your citizenship. Do keep in mind that most places that you'd want to move to and live probably have higher taxes than the US does. |
