The income tax laws are codified in Title 26 of the U.S. Code. This is known as prima facie law or evidence of the actual laws passed by Congress. You can read Title 26 at http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/html/uscode26/usc_sup_01_26.html

To read the actual laws (aka positive laws) passed by Congress, you have to go to the U.S. Statutes at Large. For the most part, these are not available online. However, they can be found in most Federal Depository Libraries and most law libraries. You can find an FDL in your state at http://catalog.gpo.gov/fdlpdir/FDLPdir.jsp

Our current income tax laws get their basic form from the Internal Revenue Act of 1954 and the Tax Reform Act of 1986. You can read the 1954 act in volume 68a starting on page 3. You can read the 1986 act in volume 100 starting on page 2085.

Title 26 is law, whether you believe it or not. You may feel the law of gravity is unconstitutional or shouldn't apply to you, but that doesn't absolve you of the requirement that you adhere to it.

In United States v. McDonald, 919 F.2d 146, 90 TNT 246-11, No. 88-5239 (9th Cir. 11/26/1990), the court stated, "Indeed, as we have repeatedly held, the entire Internal Revenue Code was validly enacted by Congress and is fully enforceable."

In Urban v. Commissioner, T.C. Memo. 1991-220, affd. per curiam, 964 F.2d 888 (9th Cir. 1992), the court stated, "The petitioner’s argument that the Internal Revenue Code was not enacted by Congress is equally meritless. The Internal Revenue Code of 1954 was enacted by the 83rd Congress on August 16, 1954 (ch. 736, 68A Stat. 3) and has been amended by Congress with some frequency since that time."

Section 1 of the IRC imposes an income tax. Section 61, 62, and 63 define what is taxable income. Section 3402 is the requirement of withholding from a person's pay. Section 6011 requires the filing of a tax return. Section 6012 specifies persons required to make returns of income. Section 6151 states the time and place for paying tax shown on returns.

· THINGS I DIDN'T KNOW UNTIL I SAW THEM ON THE INTERNET:

Nobody ever really landed on the moon - it was a giant hoax. What you saw on TV was filmed in Utah.

Elvis is still alive, and performing marriage ceremonies in Las Vegas.

It is unconstitutional for the government to tax your wages (income tax), the 16th amendment was never ratified, and most of what we think of as income isn't really income anyway.

Excuse me now....I just won 2 million pounds in the online UK lottery when my email was randomly selected, and I have to go answer the email.....

;-}

There's two people you dont piss off... those who prepare your food and the IRS. You're crazy if you think you can get away with not paying taxes...eventually it will catch up to you...not to mention, taxes go to help out the state and your country....who are you to think you are better than everyone else, and that you dont have to pay....grow up and handle your business....

Yes. You have to pay your taxes.

Title 26 of the U.S. Code (also known as the Internal Revenue Code) *is* law. It is legally enforceable by the United States government and, if you do not pay your taxes, you WILL be arrested and you WILL be prosecuted.

For more information, start reading here:

(You're out of season, btw. This pile of horse patootie is usually only posted around here in mid-April.)

I think that was the defense used by Wesley Snipes and he's going to jail.

Yes. If you owe taxes and don't pay you can go to jail which is what Al Capone went to jail for. It's called Tax Fraud. Look that up and I bet you'll find it.

This is known as a friviolus tax arguement. With the age of the internet, these arguements are growing, and the IRS and the courts are starting to impose higher fines for people using these arguements.

I can understand people not agreeing with how the governemnt spends the money they get, but do you really want to live in a country that has no roads?

I think it's like this, and it's going to sound strange.
You have to file your tax information, but there is no law that I know of that you have to pay them.
But if you owe, they will hound you for them.
I don't know if you can go to jail for not paying them but you can go to jail for not filing them correctly..understand.
I think this is how they get most people, they don't want to go-to jail for fraud.
But from what I understand, as long as you are truthful in filing they can't touch you.
But I'm not really sure, no one has ever done it that way.

imragunotprego
There is a law that requires you to pay it but you dont have to file it...........but I wouldnt suggest trying to get away with it.

No there is no law, but be aware that the IRS will break into your home and make it so much worse. They are pretty much the mafia with a higher place then the Government because they lend money to them
