Is this 2008 Tax Rebate information true?
I found, on the irs website, that if you had your tax prep fees deducted from your refund amount for the 2007 tax year, than you would be getting a paper check in the mail even if you had your tax return sent as a direct deposit. How messed up is that? Has anyone else heard this?

So on my bank statement from when my tax refund was deposited, it says it came from a tax financial service. Would this be directly from the irs or a third party bank?

This is only true if your direct deposit came from a bank OTHER than US Treasury (like a tax preparation company, or if you filed for a super fast refund loan, for example). Check your bank statement. I used H&R Block to e-file my taxes (it was not RAL or anything special like that, only e-file) and my direct deposit came directly from the US Treasury, not H&R Block's bank.

Edit: unfortunately, it sounds like a 3rd party bank. I would call H&R Block to be certain. My bank statement said "US Treasury" when it was deposited. :(

SG
It is true.

However it is not really messed up. When you agreed to have fees taken out, you agreed to have your refund sent to someone else (a third party bank). That third party bank then turned around and sent you your part of the refund.

But the IRS does not want the rebates to take the same journey...and you didn't make an agreement with the 3rd party bank that would allow the same journey.

that sounds like a transfer from a third party bank. The IRS had their information, not yours. A direct deposit refund from the IRS would say "US TREASURY 200" in the description of the deposit.

Yes, that's true. Since it doesn't say US Treasury on your statement, it didn't come direct from the IRS due to the way you filed, so they don't HAVE your account info to do a direct deposit.

Yep it is true, we filed in January with Turbo Tax. Had direct deposit and found out last week that we had to wait for a paper check. My husband's ss# ends with 00 so hopefully it will get here soon.

Grandpa
that is true if you paid your fees out of your refund and then you will get a paper check in the mail

That is old news. It has been saying that on the IRS website for weeks.

it doesnt really, you'll get the money when you get it right. and that is what matters, getting the money.

Yes it true...you said you found it on the IRS website..so why would u think its a lie?

nd as for your other question. If it was deposited from US-TREASURY(maybe include some numbers behind it) that means it came from IRS...anything else, is not.
