Yes. With regard to what joonbug posted, you can't deduct those expenses against your unemployment compensation directly - they can only be deducted as a miscellaneous itemized deduction subject to the 2% of AGI floor on your Schedule A.

Yes, it is. You can also deduct expenses such as the cost of printing resumes, cell phone bills to prospective employers, commuting costs, etc. Because when the State sends you the unemployment checks, they report it to the IRS.

It should not, because I feel the amount cannot be beyond taxable slab of taxation. But it depends on the country.
