yup taxes season is around the corner and i realize that i didn't do my taxes in 2006, so im wondering if its still possible to do my taxes from that year? if so, any suggestion on how to get my w-2 from that year? |

Ms. Angel..

Oh yes to file your 2006 tax return before filing your 2008 because if you don't file your 2006 tax return and you file 2008 first IRS has a REFUND HOLD PROGRAM which will hold your 2008 refund until any and all delinquent tax return are filed an processed.
So file 2006 first contact IRS at 1-800-829-1040; 1-800-829-0922 or visit your local IRS office to request the w2, IRS will send you a wage information transcript (not the actual w2's) |

I work for a tax prep company, and I see this all the time. It's not a big deal. Just get all the info you can for the tax years you missed, and bring them to a tax service (like H&R Block). You'll pay a penalty to the IRS, but they're not going to send the goon squad after you unless you owe them a lot of money for a long time. You can do the returns yourself, if you know what you're doing... but I'm guessing you probably don't if you skipped a tax year (no offense, just an observation). |

if your owed a refund you'll be okay...and you can actually get a copy/transcript of your W-2 from the IRS b/c they were sent a copy as well. |

YUP.
Contact your former employer and request W-2.
Contact IRS and ask for transcript info.
If you're to receive a refund, file NOW as IRS only goes back 3 years on late returns when paying refunds, even though you're still required to file, you won't get the dough.
You can use online services, tax software, or go to Jackson Hewitt or BLock to do this, but it will be paper return NOT efiling for old return. |

Yes, you can. You will have to pay late filing and payment penalty if you owe money. Who knows maybe IRS owes you a refund. You should ask your employer to give you a copy of w-2. They must maintain it for their file. |

The IRS can send you a copy of the federal data on your W-2 so you can file. (Form 4506-T.) If you live in a state (or even city) with an income tax, you need to contact your state or your employer for the state withholding amount. |

Yes you need to file because the IRS knows what information you received that year and will come after you for back taxes. Do you still work for the same company? The W-2 might be available online if it is a larger company. |

Yes you can. If you are talking about the ones due in 2006, which were for 2005, you need to file by 4/15 if you have a refund coming, to collect it, otherwise it's forfeited.
You can probably get your W-2 from your employer. If not, you can get it from the IRS. |

That's a federal crime, by the way, if you're serious. It's called "tax evasion" or "tax fraud." Have fun when the govt. finds out. :) |
