I know I am repeating what others have written before me, but I have found that they are normally OK about it so don't spend your weekend worrying. But really.
There are people out there who do not pay for MONTHS ( I knew someone who did not pay for 3 years and the Council STILL came up with a ridiculous payment plan, that's AFTER they tried to contact him several times unsuccessfully...)
Saying that, I HAVE been summoned to court but that was after about 5 (FIVE) reminders (I moved into another borough, they even gave me a refund for goodness' sake, and THEN they kept on sending reminders I ignored...)
So don't spend your weekend worrying, councils are not that fast, AND they prefer getting your money to spending their own...
Phone them Monday, you'll be OK |

Well the first thing to do is try and stop worrying too much , yes you have let things slip but at least you have recognised it and are looking to do something
First thing Monday phone the council office and apologise for late payment . Tell them you are willing to pay by direct debit , and you would find it impossible just to pay immediately
All councils have a load of bad debt , but at least you are going to offer to pay up so they should accept your offer
Once you have sorted this out , make sure that for future years you pay monthly by direct debit . All that means is you pay 10 monthly instalments of equal amounts (April to January ) |

You will have to call them monday, they should let you pay instalments. As long as you have not already been summoned. Also make sure the info you have is correct. I asked to have mine made weekly as i got paid weekly so they sent me a weekly bill which i kept to, and then i got a reminder to say i was not paying my monthly amount. I then phoned up and they said sorry and they could see it was weekly and they would change it. I then got a summons's from then to go to court because i was not paying my monthly order , i called them again and they said sorry and i got another weekly order sent. So council are not always correct. What did annoy me is there are people out their who dont pay for years yet as far as there records stated i missed 1 payment and got the same letter as you and then month letter i was summoned. So in there eyes i only missed 2 payments and they wanted to take me to court. Its wrong. They are probably just scaring you. Why not ask for a weekly order if its easier least that way you will get in Habit of paying weekly. |

just bring all your payments up to date then ring them (or visit) and make arrangements to continue paying by instalments
that or riot |

right firstly stop worry, ring them monday and make them an offer of repayment.
what they will do is send you a form to declare all your outgoing and your income this helps them to decide if they will except your offer or if they would like you to up your offer a bit.
you must then stick to this plan as if you default from it they will either write to your boss and get it taken from your wages monthly or they will take you to court over it.
i have been through this and its was scary but once you take the step with the offer you will feel relieved.
also set up a direct debt as this will let them know you mean to stick to the payment plan.
i hope you get it sorted and good luck x |

It's really only a scare tactic so you get into contact, ring them monday and ask for a payment plan. They usually won't demand you pay it all at once, you just need to cntact them, make a set payment and pay it. If you don't pay it every month on time from now on they will make a claim through the court and bailiffs will pay a visit. So try and set up a direct debit each month for the set amount they give you. |

yes you will stop worrying the last thing they want to do is mess about they will want you to pay without any problems and should agree to a payment option |

Contact them on Monday and come to an arrangement. They know there is no point making you pay £900 immediately, when £800 is a struggle. Just talk to them. |

yes, contact them immediately on monday, explain to them you can't pay the lump sum, but that you obviously want to pay it off nonetheless; tell them how much you can afford to pay towards it immediately and make arrangements to stage the rest off. |

Yes, you will be able to talk to them about it on Monday. They may want you to do an income and expenditure sheet to show how much money you have coming in and how much you can afford to pay. As Council Tax is a priority debt, they will ask you to make 'sustainable' payments. |
