pablo escobar | Labours tax fiasco. Will there decision to scrap the 10 per cent rate cost them the election.? |
The cleaner who i see briefly in the morning said she would be 30 pounds a month worse off.
I said funny that i am white male and single and earn 30k a year and will be 30 a month better off from next month.
She imediately saw that people who are earning 15k a year or less are in fact paying more tax to give it to higher earners like me.???????
I think the goverment has made a F...G HUGE MISTAKE HERE. |

they had lost it long before this. Lost personal details, Northern Rock, more lost details, the 'election that never was'
The scrapping of the 10% rate is perhaps the last nail in the coffin. Strange isn't it, the Labour party have hurt alot of it's own core support with this one. Not getting thier vote out will cost them dear.
Lets face it, we have worked out the stealth tax scam that Brown pulled so Darling has gone for the more obvious way to raise funds. |

Congratulations. You have finally worked out what "New Labour" stands for. Conservative values. When Thatcher and Major took Conservatism so far to the right, Atilla the Hun would have been emabarassed, a newbie by the name of Tony B Liar thought of some spin. We'll wrap up old Conservative values and call it New Labour. And it worked. Golden Brown is now basking in the reflected glory of Tony B . I hope it is a huge mistake, and that we can return to somebody honest running the country. Sadly, that doesn't seem to suggest a politician - you can always tell when they are lying - their mouths move!
I'm with Billy Connolly on this one - MP's should be chosen like jury service. The desire to become a pollitician should bar you for life from ever becoming one.
Kicks soap box away and retires to nice steaming mug of Ovaltine - "Thank you, nurse". |

Your tax liability will reduce from £5182.90 to £4913.00, saving you £269.90. Anyone earning £8000 will be £160 worse off.
People earning under £5646 and over £16501 will be better off, in between will be worse off, amounts graded according to income.
I hope the Government is trounced at the next election. the situation is appalling, and disgraces a Labour Government, especially as how Ministers and MPs have been outed as greedy pigs with their snouts in the trough.
Lowly paid people with dependant children may get extra tax credits, but that doesn't help those of us who don't. |

Yes - along with the Iraq war, the plundering of pensions, the expenses gravy train and an English revolt against too many Scots in senior government positions |

"A mistake" I think that is the understatement of the decade. They are making mistakes every day that in any other industry you would be sacked for.
I saw this morning a Government Minister fro tax. She blamed the previous Conservative Government ! So how long have Labour been in power and how long can they refuse to accept responsibility for their own policies?
I sincerely hope they lose the next election but I am not too happy with the alternative either. Vote Minster Raving Looney Party I say, at least they are honest about their inability to rule! |

i havnt got a clue who to vote for they are all as bad as each other!
none of them seem to live in the real world. i work for the council and they wont offer us more than a 2.2% pay rise. some of my colleagues earn under £15k a year and if we strike they suffer even more!
think the monster ravin loony party is looking really appealing at the moment ! |

It may be a mistake, but lets remember who introduced the 10p rate in the first place. It was Gordon Brown.
Now the Tories, who refused to introduce such a low rate (in fact Ken Clark RAISED income tax rates) - want to support Labour rebels to try to keep the 10p rate.
If there is a populist bandwagon on its way, Cameron will jump on it.
At least Labour are honest about tax. They know we aren't fools, and realise we want investment in schools, hospitals etc, and this spending needs to be paid for. The Tories would have you believe that you can take less and spend more, but the reality, as I remember too well, is that they would shave off a penny here and there and deprive services of billions to fund it. |
