Anyone ( they do NOT have to be a relative) can be claimed as a dependent if he lived with you the entire year ,he cannot be claimed on anyone elses taxes and his income was less than 3300.00. Legally, you are supposed to report his income from ebay.On a more personal note, why the heck are you supporting this guy anyway?? |

i would find a reputable accountant in your area and ask him/her. where do you live? i f you can claim your bf, i should be able to claim my cats. and i agree with the above, time to get rid of the sponge. |

If he's doing ebay as a business, then yes. But if he's just selling old stuff he owns, probably not, since he's probably not really making a profit because he probably paid more for the stuff in the first place than he's selling it for.
If the $3000 from ebay was profit, then you would not be able to claim him this year because that added to the $1800 casino win takes him over the $3300 gross income limit to be claimed as a dependent. |

Unfortunately, you shouldnt be claiming him on your taxes at all in the first place. (no relation, not a dependant like a child, although he sounds like one)
If he is over 18, he should be filing his own. the Jackpot is winnings and will be taxed as such if he wants to admit he won them (did he get a paper from the casino)? I didnt think this was done...
the ebay sales would be taxed if he is making sufficient 'profit' - if he plans on selling on ebay he should keep good records of value and sales. hopefully he wont start selling your stuff.
I'd ditch the guy... soon. Sounds like a loose cannon. |

What you are doing is illegal. He is not your child or your legal spouse. You cannot claim a non relative on your taxes. When they catch you , and they will, you will have to pay back taxes and huge penalties. |
