My boyfriend has not filed his taxes for the past 3 years how do you file them all together?

File the tax returns for each year using the forms for those years. You can download from www.irs.gov. IRS will assess late filing penalty, and interest if he owes taxes. If he doesn't owe, then there shouldn't be penalties. Do not use the amended forms (as someone suggested). These are used to correct returns previously filed.

Make to sure file them from oldest to newest. I would even send them in on different days so that they are received, or at least postmarked to prove it. Otherwise they could accuse him of some type of tax crime. If he doesn't owe, it won't be a problem at all. If he does owe, his penalty is a small percentage of what he owes. You can check it out with the IRS, they won't mind telling you.

Download the forms for each of the years he didn't file at irs.gov, and fill each one out with the information from that year. Mail them all to the IRS, with each year in a separate envelope.

For any year where he had a refund coming, he'll still get it since you get a refund back as long as three years. If he doesn't file the return from 2003 tax year (the one that should have been filed in 2004) by April 15, he would not get a refund for that year even if he had one coming.

If he owed money for any of those years, he needs to send a check for what he owed. There will be interest, plus a penalty - they'll notify him how much that adds up to. If he doesn't have the money to send with the return, he should file the return anyway - they'll set up a payment plan.

Call the local IRS office and ask questions. They have a service where they answer taxpayer questions. They can tell you what forms to file, and how to file them. If you boyfriend had taxable income in those years, he has to understand that he will have to pay a penalty and interest for not paying his taxes on time (unless he paid in more taxes than he should and he's supposed to get a refund). But, he absolutely should take care of this as soon as possible because, if he has to pay interest and penalties, it's better to get it paid off now since the clock will keep running on these until he takes care of it.

Go to H&R Block or Ronnie Deutsch or somewhere! There will be fees taxes interest and penalties.

If your boy friend worked and paid taxes, chances are that he paid more taxes than he should for paid. He can file amended tax returns from previous years. Chances he will pay a fine that negates a return of any money.

He can forget about it, and start filling now, if the current return does not draw a search to previous returns, he is home free.

There are those of us that get paid outside of the work (Job) thing. We should pay taxes, but we think this is a bad idea until we find that we have cut our throats.

I don't think you can file them all together. Go to IRS.gov to check the questions and answers. I suspect "taxpayer advocate" is where he'll find what he needs.
I suspect he'll need to file three returns, one for each year. He'll probably have to pay a late fine and, if he owes money, interest on that.
It's still better than the IRS figuring it out and coming after you, and in the computer age, it's only a matter of time.
His best bet is to get all the info he can find on his finances (W2s, 1099s, that sort of thing) and go to an accountant. A tax professional can answer all those questions, and even figure out if he didn't need to file in certain years (depending on income).
