He needs a form to get it back, tell him to phone the local tax office and they will send him the correct form. |

If he earns above the individual tax allowance, currently £5,435 he will be taxed at the basic tax rate. To check his tax code, look at his payslip - it will say on there. |

At the end of the tax year he should get it back if he has not earned more than his taxable allowance. He has obviously been taxed on an Emergency Code which does not allow refunds until a permanent code is given. Get in touch with his local Tax Office or any tax office and they will tell him what to do |

He shouldn't get taxed and would be entitled to that back. There's a form that his employer should have specifically for students. Your brother will need to fill it in and then shouldn't get taxed anymore. I'm sorry I don't know what the form is called, but it's an Inland revenue form. |

only if he has earned above the single persons allowance over the tax year. they may be charging him emergency tax as they have to if they dont have his tax code or details. he should be able to get this back, find out where his employers tax office is and contact them with details or ask his employer to sort it out if they can. |

Yes, everyone pays tax depending on how much they earn. |

He can earn up to £5,035 each year tax-free. But employers will often deduct the standard tax rate because they won't know in advance how much will be earnt.
He will be due a tax refund or a correction in his code to correct the fact that he has been taxed.
He can ring HMRC to confirm when / how much if necessary. |

He should file his income tax, but he will receive a full refund.
Maybe - like me - I've been declared a dependant for 2007.
I do not have to file income taxes for last year.
The acting relative was advised by an accountant and her broker. I'll be fine.
For 2008, I plan on keeping good records and filing for myself again.
Good luck. |
