if you're staying at his place for over 6 months and you don't pay rent or bills, he is supporting you. He has a right to claim you.
You can go ahead and file your taxes and they will ask you if anyone else claimed you. Say yes. the only thing that can happen is that you won't get back as much from your income tax refund as you would've otherwise.
He didn't mess you up.

I work at a tax office now and last year my mom did that to me!

You can talk to the IRS and see if they can do anything, but I just let it go.

You can still file your taxes and should if you had any income. It just means that you can only claim 0 on your taxes.

I guess you should go ahead and claim yourself as a dependent on his return. At least this way you will probably be owing money rather than receiving money you aren't actually entitled to. I'm in the same situation, and because of this my dad pays what I owe the government (last year it was $330, this year only $14) since his claim to me is a payoff for him. Maybe you can call your dad up and ask him if he would be willing to pay the amount you owe. Hurry up!

If you made less than $3400 last year and your dad provided more than half your support. If your parent CAN claim you then you cannot claim yourself. (Note: That is CAN, not did.)

That being said if your dad cannot claim you then you should file claiming yourself in order to file an complete and ACCURATE return for yourself.

If your dad filed electronically then you will not be able to file electronically and will have to mail your return.

After the IRS has both returns they will send a letter to each of you asking for more information.

You have about two hours to get that done. You might wait until next year.

If you file saying that nobody claimed you, they'll figure that out with a quickness. Your SS# will throw up a flag that way.
