How did your EX get your W2? I think she could get in to some big trouble for this. Don't they have to be electronically signed?
If she committed fraud, get a Lawyer and have her put in jail. That's not right.

contact the tax company and tell them that you are divorced and they should not have jointly filed taxes and they should take care of it for you if not then a call to the irs from you about it will get the problem straight with a lot of pain in the *** for the ex-wife

bostonianinmo
How did an ex file YOUR taxes? She can't legally do that. Just ifle your own return as Single or HoH as appropriate. She's the one that filed a fraudulent return; YOU don't have to worry about that.

Sure, call the 1-800 # for the IRS, and find out. If you to are having marital problems, I would call your bank and have them notify you when the refund posts to your account. This way you know how much you are getting, the IRS will also tell you when the amount should post and you then can get the cash.

dlin333
well, if she filed in both your names, as a married couple,, you can call the irs toll free number, and ask,,,, or just call their toll free refund number, and put in her social security number, whether you file as a couple or single depends on when you separated or divorced, if you were married for half the year, you can file jointly, but you would have to agree to it

I guess you could call the IRS and see if they can look it up with your ss#.
Good luck.

Was this a joint return? If yes, sure because it's your return too. She would have had to have your signature on the e-file form to file it.

If not, I'm not sure.

billyboston2002
Well, Is she your ex- or estranged? Is your divorce finalized or not? If you are still married you are out of luck. I had the same thing happen and was at the soon to be ex-wifes mercy to get any of mine taxes back. She was pretty resonable about the taxes and gave me my fair share. (There was plently of other things she just was unreasonable and dragged her feet forever with!)

I spent sometime on the IRS website and can't find a solution for you to get the amount from them.

Get your address changed ASAP so things like W-2 don't go to her address - You can do this with a little post card thing from the local post office.

As for your money or the amount, ask your lawyer, but I wouldn't hold your breath -Sorry!!

If she filed both of your returns or a joint return without your signature, then she did something very illegal. Tell her that you're going to report her to the IRS if she doesn't give you a copy of the return.

You said she's your EX-wife. In any case, it's illegal to file a joint return after you're divorced even if the two of you agreed to do it. If you were divorced in 2006 or earlier, then you should file your own return as single, with your own information. This would trigger an IRS investigation since you'd show on two returns, and she'll be the one in trouble for filing yours illegally.

For those saying no you can't. I promis you can! Alls you have to do is call that number and give the SS#.

ft3535
tell her she either shows you a copy or your attorney will get them plus damages

also contact the attorney you used for your divorce, and the IRS..

good luck

No, when you call the automated number they ask you for the return amount. Without that number....you are SOL.

Immortal Beloved
You should cnosider asking nicely.
I don't think I'd tell you either with that attitude.
Takes two to tango Mister and I doubt you've been Pollyanna.
