I agree call 1-800-959-8281 and request a copy for your t4's if it is 2007 or prior. For 2008, the employer is required to send them out by Feb 28, 2009. If they have been withholding taxes on your behalf (you can check this on your paystub) they must send a copy to the CRA. The CRA will know. |

If you put your request in writing to your former employer, definitely also send a copy to the Ontario Ministry of Revenue. By law the employer must provide you with the T-4 by the last day of February. The Ministry of Revenue will definitely acknowledge your letter & probably contact the employer. |

From 2008? The have till end of February 2009 to have it in the mail.
If it's from 2007, call CRA (1-800-959-8281) and request a copy. If they do not have one on file, they will suggest you go by the amounts on your final pay stub for the year. If you do not have the final pay stub, either try to contact the company again (probably easier if you contact head office) or just estimate.

If you worked in 2008, you will receive your T4 by mail before March 15th (they must be mailed by the last working day in February). If you don't receive your T4 by March 15th, call CRA and report them - they get a small fine for not submitting their employees' T4's and summary on time.
If you are trying to receive a T4 from an employer for previous tax years, don't bother. Just give the CRA a call and request them. The number for CRA is 1-800-959-8281. If you have any more questions, just call CRA. |

No there is no reason they could be refusing it legally. They have to give it to you by law. |

Your employer needs to make the attempt only once, and that has to happen before the end of February of the year following the year you worked for them. The only time they are required to send out a second copy of a T4 is if they made a mistake with the first one.
The real good news is that whenever your employer gives you a T4, they are required to send a copy to the CRA. Call them up and ask for a copy.
You need the information from the T4 in order to complete your return properly. If you can't get the T4, the CRA will sometimes accept your last pay stub as proof of the amounts you are claiming for income, CPP, EI and income tax withheld. |

Yes, you need it to file your income tax in April. If this is for the 2007 tax year, it is due by law by the end of February. If you are unable to contact them, contact CRA and explain the situation, and they will contact the company and get the form (ifh they don;t already have a copy).
If this is for 2008, of course, the T4 isn't issued until the New Year.

my pervious employer is not giving my t4 everyone at the work place have got theirs every time i call them they just give me som elame excuse of its with general manager we will contact you but nothing yet am really worried can you suggest of whom i should talk to |

Oh same thing has happened to me too, except they may have given it to another employee so that she would give it to me but I havent gotten anything yet :s if thats the case what legal actions can I take seeing as they gave it to someone other than me. |
