Sorry for your loss. If your question is, are you responsible for his debt, the answer is no. But if he left any estate, the estate is responsible for it, so if he left his estate to you, his debts would be paid out of it before you get anything. |

First of all I would like to say sorry for your loss and sorry for the RUDE comments above...I would call the IRS and explain the situation and they will probaly tell you what you would need to do...I know when my grandparent's passed we paid off their delinquet debt's... |

Unless he is getting sternly worded letters from IRS, don't worry about it. If all he gets is a softly worded letter advising what his balance due is, his account has been written off. If you get a nastygram, write back that he is deceased and (I am assuming) left no estate. |

Just as the children inherit their money we also inherit their bills. check into the newspaper announcement that you say, please come forward by ____ to make a claim against my father's estate, if not claimed by ________ you no longer have a legal claim. I've seen them in newspapers. |
