Did you have an income from any source ? If so,then you need to file.Did your husband have ANY type of income? Social Security? Comp benefits? Insurance benefits, anything at all? Do you have children? If so,you might qualify for the 'Earned Income' benefit.Call the IRS and ask!! They won't come after you for just calling and talking to them! |

You should file jointly, especially if only one of you had income. |

No need to file-you aren't required to pay income taxes if you had no income.
No income=no tax liability. |

There is no need to file if he has no income. I would claim his as a dependent on your return to increase your return. |

Was your husband collecting unemployment or were you living off your salary? If you are the soul supporter then you can file a joint return showing that he was dependant on you - if he collected unemployment you will receive something from the unemployment office - 1099 to use for your taxes. If he collected disability then that takes different rules - I'm not a tax expert - I am a stay at home mom without an income and I am always on my husbands taxes - I would contact an accountant if I were you and explain your situation - the IRS is too serious to mess around with - it will be worth the money and the peace of mind - gee I sound like an H&R Block commercial. Seriously, get people to help you - professionals - not worth owing the IRS. Best of Luck :) |
