My mom claimed me on her taxes, will I still get a $600 rebate check?
My mom says she doesn't think so but she is not sure..

nope if claimed as a dependent so no rebate and she will not get it either because you are over 17 years old

Judy1
NO, DEPENDENTS AREN'T ELIGIBLE. And besides, $600 isn't an amount everyone gets who is eligible, that's the maximum.

I agree with wisegirl. You Mom gets the extra $$ by claiming you. You wont' get anything.

No, you wont, she will get the extra $300 per dependent plus her $600 I think, so I guess you could ask her for a portion of her rebate. If you have a job and are of age you could in the future file your own return.

jenk1972
No you do not qualify for a rebate if someone else claims you on their taxes. Sorry

SCH
No...if she claimed you as a dependant then you do not qualify for the rebate and she does not qualify for a dependant rebate if you are over 17 as of 12/31/07.

You mom claimed you as a dependent, so you will not get the rebate.

If you are under 17, then your mom will get a $300 rebate for you.

If you are 17 or over, neither of you get a rebate - college aged kids claimed by their parents fell through a crack in the rebate system...

bfdavis1972
Wisegirl is right. You can actually check out the rebate calculator on the irs.gov website and it will give you the amounts involved, but if she claimed you on her taxes then chances are good you won't be getting anything back.

UNLESS
You also filed your own taxes.

Then you will. I believe.
