Not a thing. You need your W-2. If you do it on paper and send it in, you need to attach it. If you efile, your efiler needs to keep a copy of it. If you do it online, you need to click a statement that says you are declaring your income based on tax docs received. In other words, ignore those that are telling you to use your last pay stub. They are telling you to break the law. Besides, W-2's don't always agree with pay stubs. |

you can estimate your numbers based on the last paycheck you got and do a draft tax form to have everything figured out and all ready to go when the real numbers arrive. But your employer has until the end of January to produce the W2s and there is nothing you can do to get them sooner than that if the employer needs or chooses to use all the time allotted.

You can't. Sorry!
Ignore the idiots who say to use your pay stub. That's ILLEGAL. You can ESTIMATE your taxes with your pay stub but you may NOT file a legal return without your W-2 in hand. |

You can't get around it, there's absolutely nothing you can do!
So, sit back & relax, learn to be patient! |

If you only worked at that one place in 2008, then you can use your last paycheck of the year. |

Wait for W2. If you do not get by Feb 15, then call IRS.
You may be able to file without W2. However, you should wait till you get all the Forms like W2s and 1099s. If you file based on last pay slip, you may have to file amended tax return if there is any different figure in W2 or 1099. Read http://taxipay.blogspot.com/2008/04/list-of-articles.html |

You could have saved your last paycheck stub of the year and been calculating your taxes based on that. If you didn't think ahead, too bad, maybe next year. |
